Astrologers rarely use Navamsha for timing the events. Most of the time only the tools like various dasas and transits in Rasi chart are used for timing the significant event in one's life. Our classical texts provide techniques that include the navamsha division for getting insights while timing the events. In this blog, two such techniques are provided.
(1) When Saturn, Rahu or Ketu transit through the Navamsha occupied by 6th lord (the sign occupied by 6th lord in Navamsha chart) or its trine signs, unhappy events like health problems, accidents, thefts etc. may take place. Similarly when Saturn, Rahu or Ketu transits through the Navamsha occupied by 8th lord (the sign occupied by 8th lord in Navamsha chart) or its trine signs, unhappy events like stress, problems, sudden accidents, obstacles etc.may take place. Also when Saturn, Rahu or Ketu transits through the Navamsha occupied by 12th lord (the sign occupied by 12th lord in Navamsha chart) or its trine signs, unhappy events like hospitalisation, increased expenses, sleeping disorders, exit etc. may take place.
(2) The planets placed in navamsha signs equivalent to the signs in 6th, 8th or 12th house in Rasi chart get extra traits besides their own lordships in Rasi chart. Planet placed in the Navamsha sign which is also the 6th house sign in Rasi chart is called Shahthamsha. Planet placed in the Navamsha sign which is also the 8th house sign in Rasi chart is called Nidhnamsha. Similarly the Planet placed in the Navamsha sign which is also the 12th house sign in Rasi chart is called Vyayamsha. Evil events may be anticipated whenever Saturn, Rahu or Ketu transit through these signs or their trine sign.
Let us take example charts to illustrate the above rules:
Rule 1: Birth Chart of Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
Mrs. Indira Gandhi. 8th lord Saturn has occupied Aquarius Navamsha. So, as per the above rule whenever Saturn transits through Aquarius, Gemini or Tula, threat to health or danger to body may be envisaged. On the day of her death, October 31, 1984, Saturn was transiting through Libra at 24° 05′
Rule 2: Birth Chart of Mahatma Gandhi
In Libra ascendant Pisces falls in 6th house. Moon occupies Pisces sign in navamsha, So the Moon also becomes shashthamsha besides being Karmesh (lord of 10th house in Rasi chart). 6th house also signifies un-natural death. So whenever Satun transits through Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces such kind of an event may be anticipated. On 30th January 1948, retrograde Saturn was transiting in Cancer at 26°56′.
