Bhrigu Bindu - Computation and usage in Predicting Significant Events

Like Indu Lagna, Bhrigu Bindu is another imaginary point which actually is the midpoint between Rahu and the Moon, that is very sensitive to transits of various planets. Depending upon the ruling dasa periods, whenever malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, Mars and Sun transit over Bhrigu Bindu or aspect the Bhrigu Bindu, malefic events like severe problem to health including even the death of self or a relative, change in place, great mental agony and stress, obstacles and hurdles and financial and professional setbacks may be faced by the native. Similarly whenever benefic planets like Jupiter and Venus transit or aspect the Bhrigu Bindu, the native may experience happy events like promotions in job, birth of children, marriage, honours and awards etc.

The various steps involved in computation of Bhrigu Bindu and a few examples to illustrate the technique are given below.

Steps to compute Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu

  1. Convert rasi, degree and minute of longitude of Moon into minutes by multiplying the rasi by 1800 and degree by 60 and adding these two values to the minutes.
  2. Similarly, convert rasi, degree and minute of longitude of Rahu into minutes by multiplying the rasi by 1800 and degree by 60, and adding these two values to the minutes.
  3. Obtain the Mid value = Half the (longitude of Moon - longitude of Rahu)
  4. Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu in minutes (A) = longitude of Rahu + Mid Value (from step 3)
  5. Completed Rasi of Bhrigu Bindu (S) = Quotient of [ A (from step 5) divided by 1800]
  6. Remainder (R) = Remainder of [ A (from step 5) divided by 1800]
  7. Degree of Bhrigu Bindu (D) = Quotient of [ R (from step 6) divided by 60]
  8. Minutes of Bhrigu Bindu (M) = Remainder of [ R (from step 6) divided by 60]
  9. Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu = Rasi (S) Degree (D) Minute (M) from steps 5, 7 and 8 respectively.

Computation of Bhrigu Bindu:

  1. Moon 11R 15° 00′ = 11 x 1800 + 15 x 60 + 00 = 19800 + 900 = 20700
  2. Rahu 07R 26° 14′ = 7 x 1800 + 26 x 60 + 14 = 12600 + 1560 + 14 = 14174
  3. Mid Value = ½ x (20700 - 14173) = ½ x 6526 = 3263
  4. A = Longitude of Rahu + Mid Value = 14173 + 3263 = 17436
  5. S = Quotient of (17436 divided by 1800) = 9
  6. R = Remainder of (17437 divided by 1800) = 1236
  7. D = Quotient of (1236 divided by 60) = 20
  8. M = Remainder of (1236 divided by 60) = 36
  9. Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu = 9R 20° 36′ (Capricorn 20° 36′)

On this day, Jupiter was in Virgo in 3rd house at 21 deg. 14 min. aspecting the Bhrigu Bindu and Saturn was in Scorpio in 5th house at 22 deg. 39 min also aspecting the Bhrigu Bindu.

It may be observed that Saturn is lord of 7th house (Pada Praapti) aspecting its own house from 5th house (Honours and awards).

  1. Moon 09R 05° 35′ = 9 x 1800 + 5 x 60 + 35 = 16200 + 300 + 1050 = 16535
  2. Rahu 08R 10° 33′ = 8 x 1800 + 10 x 60 + 33 = 14400 + 600 + 33 = 15033
  3. Mid Value = ½ x (16535 - 15033) = ½ x 1502 = 751
  4. A = Longitude of Rahu + Mid Value = 15033 + 751 = 15784
  5. S = Quotient of (15784 divided by 1800) = 8
  6. R = Remainder of (15784 divided by 1800) = 1384
  7. D = Quotient of (1384 divided by 60) = 23
  8. M = Remainder of (1384 divided by 60) = 4
  9. Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu = 8R 23° 4′ (Sagittarius 23° 4′)

She died on 31.10.1984. On that day, Mars was transiting in Sagittarius (6th house) at 24° 42′ over Bhrigu Bindu and Saturn was transiting in Libra (4th house) at 24° 05′ aspecting the Bhrigu Bindu. It may be seen that in the birth chart of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Saturn is aspecting the 7th house (qualify for providing the results of 7th house) and Mars is disposed in 2nd house, thus both have death inflicting tendencies मारक प्रभाव.

  1. Moon 09R 11° 16′ = 9 x 1800 + 11 x 60 + 16 = 16200 + 660 + 16 = 16876
  2. Rahu 06R 27° 34′ = 6 x 1800 + 27 x 60 + 34 = 10800 + 1620 + 34 = 12454
  3. Mid Value = ½ x (16876 - 12454) = ½ x 4422 = 2211
  4. A = Longitude of Rahu + Mid Value = 12454 + 2211 = 14665
  5. S = Quotient of (14665 divided by 1800) = 8
  6. R = Remainder of (14665 divided by 1800) = 265
  7. D = Quotient of (265 divided by 60) = 4
  8. M = Remainder of (265 divided by 60) = 25
  9. Longitude of Bhrigu Bindu = 8R 04° 25′ (Sagittarius 4° 25′)

Death of Father - 03.06.1983. On that day, Retrograde Saturn, lord of 9th house signifying father was in Libra (5th house) at 4° 45′ aspecting the Bhrigu Bindu and Ketu was in Sagittarius at 2° 08′ transiting over Bhrigu Bindu.
